Let's start off by apologizing for the lack of posts.

Things have been good, we've been to london for RBMA, released 7"s on spannish Skweee labels, worked PR for DFA records and started building modular synthesizers.

Alright alright alright on to the heat:

RQM, which you are probably familiar with if you follow this whole new wave of beat stuff remotely closely, he's been on a bunch of amazing beats by some of our friends, like Lazer Sword for example. He just released an EP called Colors Fade. No offense everyone, we try to listen to things we get by email, but when RQM himself hollered and I finalle went through this, It thought it was my duty to share.

For starters, the music. Great vocals, I'm hearing a bit of Saul Williams in there, but more soulful, without the annoying bits and more relevant. Now : RIDICULOUS beats. I'm talking off the wall ridiculous. Click here to stream the wild timbaland-esque SIRIUSMO contribution (Siriusmo being a unanimous Manybrain favorite). To be honest I'm not sold on the JF version but that just may be my gripe with that dubstep right now.

Second, amazing packaging and concept. 84 7"s were pressed each with unique painted artwork that once put together form a huge puzzle. Try doing that with your MP3s. Also comes with a t-shirt and a whole bunch of extra shit but wait did we mention also Chris De Luca and Phono and SIRIUSMO beats? oh yeah. that too.

It's sounding like influences going full circle and is reminiscent of press darlings XX. Ketamine'd up sexy minimalism, executed very well.

I fucking love rap music.

and the DJ Quik / Kurupt collabo record is coming out in 4 days. So stop for a few seconds and get on some grown man. This record is weird front to back and it's got some real bangers. DJ Quik needs no introduction and it's too bad his Fixxers record was canned 2 years ago due to heavy bootlegging, as it was quite the exciting release for all of us up in Montreal. The internet has its ways I guess. Anyways, Kurupt fucking murders these tracks and Quik does what it does. First one is some ultra minimal ridiculous banger shit along the lines of the recent explosion of LA Jerk music or the stupid hot tracks Ya Boy has been releasing over the past while, except this has some space station vocal chop that will make your boy peak. Other joint sounds like a collaboration between Puppetmastaz and Dopplereffekt... How this happened on a joint-record between two seminal west coast rap figures is beyond me, but shieeieieieieieit, props to them for trying new stuff.

Or maybe just some of the coolest triangles and circles you've ever seen...

Not sure yet, but we're working on it.

In the meantime, I've started up a personal blog for those interested in getting geeked up on the tech stuffs with me. after 4 to 5 years hosting and DJing a weekly radio show on CISM 89,3 FM in Montreal. Phil (hovasculartron) has put an end to the FM broadcasting of the show. Tough decision and it's definitely sad to move on from the medium, but we're trying to get a web podcast going over the summer to replace that void. Expect contributions from members of Manybrain, NinjaTune affiliates, hopefully other well-regarded friends that don't suck and a grib of guest mixes. We'll post 'em up here and hopefully get them popping everywhere else like it should.

Sincere apologies from the manybrain fam for things being so pathetically slow as of late. It is end of term and everyone is working hard to earn that summer break.

However, we will take the time to let you know about the upcoming Nadsroic EP entitled "Room Mist" produced by our dude HudMo, coming out May 11th. LUCKYME HAVE DONE IT AGAIN. Cop this one before it sells out as quick as OOPS did. It is a stunningly beautiful and progressive rap EP from an incredibly talented collective of artists. Nadsroic is one to watch for in the future and Hudson Mo's production is nothing short of phenomenal.

both released the same week a month ago, Kanye's new video for Welcome to Heartbreak and Evident Utensil by indie band Chairlift both utilize stunning collapsing technology to the fullest. Heavy codec and compression noise create ridiculous psychedelic effects. I strongly recommend watching both in HD, as to take in the full experience of compression and downgraded digital data.
